This is housed in an ergonomically designed desk type cabinet to facilitate ease of operation. It forms a very convenient mode of talking to the Train Driver using the Outdoor Post Telephone, and exchange Private Numbers for movement of trains held up at the Home signal. It consists of a voice communication equipment with switching arrangement, a loud speaker, piezo buzzer and LED indications for power ON and Ringing. The equipment works on a 12V DC power source and requires only one pair of dedicated wires to be connected with the Outdoor Post Telephone. The equipment is designed for rugged use and facilitates hands free listening without the necessity of a handset.
Whenever the ASM wants to talk to the Post telephone he has to press a switch and talk into the console. This speech is detected and amplified and sent to the post telephone at the distant end.
