This telephone provides communication between the Station Master at a way side station and the Train Traffic Controller at a Divisional Office. The telephone can be directly connected to the 4 Wire underground cable circuits in electrified areas without the need for any way station equipment. This is very useful where additional telephone is to be provided in a station. The telephone can work from 3 Volts to 18 Volts power supply with very low current consumption. Speech amplifiers are provided in the telephone and the levels can be varied by trim pots provided.

The telephone is housed in an aesthetic ABS plastic cabinet and employs dynamic transducers for the transmitter and receiver capsules for speech clarity and long life. The send and receive efficiencies have been enhanced to a great extent to provide good audibility over long distances. The insertion loss is held very low to facilitate connection of several telephones in parallel along the way stations.
