This battery charger unit is intended to provide stable 12 V D.C. power to Way Station Equipment along with automatic battery backup during power failure. It can power up to 6 way station equipment which can be connected to independently fused outlets on the back panel. It works off 220V mains and charges the battery using a constant voltage mode of charging. A compact mainte¬nance free sealed battery is housed inside the charger unit; hence it can provide uninterrupted DC power without any external connections.
It carries a Battery Monitoring Circuitry for sensing a low battery condi¬tion, in case of a fault such as a mains/fuse failure. If the battery voltage drops to 11.5 Volts, an audio alarm is turned on along with a flashing visual indication. The audio alarm per-sists until the low battery condition is acknowledged by pressing a reset button.
