This equipment provides a very useful interface between the 4 wire Cable circuits and Microwave backup circuits. Whenever the microwave backup is required this interface can be activated remotely from the Divisional Control Office. This is particularly helpful when backup is required at odd hours due a cable fault.

The equipment is housed in a compact module which can be easily set up at the Microwave station where backup is required to be provided. The Trans and Receive Pairs of the cable circuits and the corresponding Microwave backup lines are terminated on a terminal block inside the equipment. Whenever the microwave backup is required this interface can be activated remotely from the Divisional Control Office by simply transmitting a specially designated DTMF code, without the intervention of any MW Staff. The backup can be released as soon as the cable fault is attended, again by transmitting a DTMF code. Facility to manually activate/disable the backup is also provided.
