This test jig is primarily intended to troubleshoot D.T.M.F way station equipment. It provides controlled D.T.M.F. tones and has a built in current controlled DC power supply to power a way station equipment during repair. It also has a logic probe to detect digital signals at various test points on the PCB of the equipment being serviced. A DTMF receiver is also incorporated into the jig, hence the test room can contact the jig during field servicing, emergencies etc., and the jig has an un-breakable ABS handset with dynamic capsules, to establish communication with test room or other way side stations, if required, without the assistance of the controller. It operates on 220 V mains and also carries a built in charger with a maintenance free battery, for operation during power failures. It can also be powered with an external battery if desired. The jig can be used to troubleshoot as well as communicate on 2 wire as well as 4 wire circuits. It is housed in an ergonomic portable console.
The current controlled DC power source in the Test Jig helps in trouble shooting defective PCB's, as it will not allow overload currents to pass through, thus preventing thermal runaway failures. Whenever an equipment connected to the Jig draws more than 50 mA, an `OVERLOAD' indication is turned ON. Using the logic probe provided, the state of the IC's can be easily observed. The `LOGIC HIGH' LED (Green) indicates the Logic state.
